Birmingham Vegetarians and Vegans

Welcome to the BVV 'slim' website!

For technical and time pressures, we've had to slim down our wesbite to make it more manageable for the volunteers.

Why not come along to one of our regular meetings? They are usually held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at Carrs Lane Church Centre in Birmingham B5 7TH (unless advised otherwise). We have a general update & chat about the latest news, followed by a talk or demonstration.

Best regards from all of us at Birmingham Vegetarians & Vegans.

Next BVV meeting: Tues 23rd February 2010, 7:30pm
Debate: Do we need to give up meat to end global hunger?

Amanda Baker from The Vegan Society will put the case for plant-based nutrition and stock-free agriculture. A well-planned vegan diet needs just one third the fresh water, fertile land and energy produce as the typical diet in the UK. Enough food for 3.5 billion more people is already grown, but wasted as feed for artificially bred farmed animals. The global animal farming industry is in the top three causes of global greenhouse gas emissions. Extreme weather events caused by climate change are already destroying harvests. So vegan diets and farming are crucial to ending global hunger.

Meeting starts at 7:30pm at Carrs Lane Church Centre, Carrs Lane, Birmingham (opposite Moor Street Station and Marks & Spencers - easy & safe walking distance from New Street Station and Selfridges/Bull Ring Shopping Centre). Entry costs £2.50 per person.
